This is a post by pastor Naeem Fazal of Mosaic church in Charlotte. I love his enthusiasm for his team and his thoughts regarding servanthood. check it out.
I’m so proud of my volunteer staff. I work with the most wonderful people in Charlotte. They are the most energetic, passionate and committed group of people I know. They work their tails off to advance the kingdom of heaven. My team knows the difference between serving and using their gifts. They know the difference between servant hood and spiritual gifts. Yes, there is a difference. Picking up trash, vacuuming the floors, tidying up the bathrooms, babysitting kids, setting up and breaking down the church every week are not spiritual gifts - its servanthood. Just like Jesus washing his disciple’s feet – servanthood, not a use spiritual gift. My team gets it and they rock …my face off (don’t know what that really means)
Ps. It’s sad when some people come to ‘serve’ at Mosaic insisting on only using their spiritual gifts. I wonder what kingdom they are advancing…
just something to chew on.
