This morning was a first for Lifepoint. Today we started a prayer time for the men of Lifepoint to genuinely gather to seek God’s face. Prayer is one of those things that everyone would say is a really good thing to do but when it comes down to it it seldom gets done. Of course I’m not insinuating that prayer is an item on your “to do” list. At least it shouldn’t be. Two quotes by e.m. bounds stood out to me this past week. “God’s plan is to make much of the man, far more of him than of anything else. Men are God’s method. The Church is looking for better methods; God is looking for better men.” What the Church needs today is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more and novel methods, but men whom the Holy Spirit can use–men of prayer, men mighty in prayer.” It is definitely convicting for me to read such words. I only hope that my life will someday reflect the sentiments written by E.M. Bounds.
On a second note…My wife and Riley both started surfing this past week. My wife took her first crack and surfing and stood up on a few waves. I think she is getting the fever. I’ve always said there is something strangely attractive about girls who play guitar and girls who surf. Keep surfing baby! Riley took his first stab at catching waves yesterday. He was charging it. I took him out in the surf and pushed him into the waves. He rode more than I did yesterday. Never mind the fact that the board is over twice his size. He looked so cool. I had to ask him to jump off before he road it on the shore. He said o.k. I can’t wait until my whole family is surfing together. How sweet will that be.
