So I’ve caught some flack (of course I’m not exactly sure what flack is) for my lack of blogging these days. I know it has been a whole week and for that I am deeply apologetic to all those poor souls who anxiously await my next post.  Of course I know that most of the “flack” I catch is really from good friends who are just poking fun at me.  I can’t help it.  Some people have work to get done.  (spoken very tongue in cheek!)

As I’m typing it has dawned on me that I never gave a followup to this past weekend and our FALL KICKOFF.  I think I can sum it up in one word…AMAZING!  There is always a nervous factor when you step into the unknown and trust God for what only He can do.  This past weekend was a major milestone for us at Lifepoint.  We stayed on God’s heels and did what He led us to do and I’ve got to be honest it made me feel like we were in over our heads.  Between the gas give away and the mailers we were letting the community know that there is a place that loves them just as they are…no strings attached.  I had no clue what to expect on Sunday.

Sunday morning rolled around and boy did people show up.  I remember my dad walking up to me during the opening music set and he said to me, “Don’t be nervous but the parking lot is full!”  Well, that didn’t make me nervous but it overwhelmed me with a feeling of how faithful God is.  To make a long story short, the 9:30am service had roughly 180 people in attendance and the 11am service had about 150.

The story doesn’t stop there.  I told you that I was having a little bit of butterflies that day and the real reason was because we were not doing a flowery feel good message.  We felt that God had steered us toward a message that would be hard hitting.  So out of faithfulness and ignorance we took God at face value and launched a series dealing with adultery and affairs.  You could’ve heard a pin drop as I began the talk.  By the way if you ever want to get parents to take their kids to your children’s ministry then just use the word SEX over ten times in the course of a talk.  (of course, I say that because we have an amazing children’s ministry and we believe that every kid that attends it will love it.)  For personal reasons I can’t share the stories that came from this weekend but lets just say that when God is on time He is on time.  I believe many marriages are going to experience a rebirth through this series.

We ended the day with a little surprise.  For all the kids and students we had an ice cream truck filled with FREE ICE CREAM.  That was so cool.  Even the man who ran the ice cream truck said he’s never had so much fun.  He told us that he’s coming back next week to check us out.

We definitely experienced a shot of adrenaline this past weekend.  It will be exciting to see what God continues to do over the next several weeks and months.

Keep Praying Lifepoint!
