I just finished laughing hysterically at Dino Rizzo, pastor of Healing Place Church in Baton Rouge. This guy bleeds Jesus. Check out his notes.
(check out Pastor Matt Fry–second from the left)
Looking for the next wave.
Willing to paddle out into the deep things of God.
Joshua 1:9– This is my command – be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
“You can’t make waves, God sends them. We just learn how to ride them.” -Rick Warren
Rules of the Surf Club: Riding the waves
1. Never surf alone
There are too many sharks lurking around that will grab a hold of your life.
Ego/Insecurities/Fear
My first week we had 12 people and then 5 of them left. They died a “Cowboy death”slow death with blood everywhere. They fell down and got up and fell down and got up – Dino
“I couldn’t sit at the church so I went to the mall so I could be around people
Many have drowned because they surfed alone.
2. You will hit the reef of Rejection.
You will feel the rejection on time change weekend.
Rejection doesn’t stop at a certain number, budget, staff size, when you get a particular person at church.
In the beginning you’re “NICE” to everyone.
How exciting you brought a tambourine.
Wow I love the chaufar.
Fingerpainted banners are my favorite.
3. You have to go find the big unridden waves.
We surf the storm.
We were the only ones out because we were the only ones that had NO sense.
Some of the greatest thrills will not show up at your door.
So often the best rides of life may not be in your zip code. That’s why we do multi-site.
We’re not afraid to paddle out to the tough breaks.
4. Let’s surf the Globe.
Q?-where are some people that need life?

Wow… and I thought I took a lot of notes in Austin… You must have severe writers cramp…
Was a great conference though!
