So I started writing this while at Big Stuf Camp with our students. I am at home now and have had some time to reflect on my experience. This is a first hand perspective as to why Senior/Lead Pastors should NOT go with their students to camp.
- Teenagers are irritating. Just admit it…it’s true.
- You’ll find yourself questioning the future of the free world.
- You will be convinced that your generation was the last to receive a brain.
- You’ll either grow younger or older just being around them. You choose.
- The van ride…need I say more?
- You don’t need more drama in your life.
- You’ll go broke. Your heart will break first and then your wallet will be second. You will want to spend every last penny reaching them with the love of Jesus.
- You might come back fired up…and your church may not like that.
- You’ll realize that students and children are not the church of tomorrow. They are the church of today!
- You won’t be the same!

Jeff i think it is the most important part for you to go. You set the example for them to be a mentor to younger kids. They follow your lead regardless if they refuse to show it to you. Trust me they will when no adults around to their friends to show them they are “mature”.
teaching them, isnt that the 11th commandment?
Going broke
Hey Jeff,
I can’t believe you said some of those things at the beginning like teens are irritating, lol!!! You know Proof Positive was all of those things but we were the best youth group you and Michelle ever had!
I hope to see you soon at the wedding!
