Service or Serve Us?

What is the message of your church?

You can either exist to be served or to serve others. You can give or you can take. I’ve always believed that you are never more like Jesus than when you serve others(I’m sure someone else said this but I don’t know who so I’ll pretend like I just came up with it).

The problem though is that I loved to be served. I love certain coffee shops because of their service. I love of when my wife serves me. We live in a very service oriented culture. This is a good thing but if we are not careful we will quickly desire to be the servee rather than the server. Huge difference there!

Too many Christians are more interested in being served rather than serving. I’m proud to say that the culture of Lifepoint is different. We still have a long way to go but it is cool to see people so enthusiastic to show up early, park cars, brew coffee, love kids, open doors, and pack it all up at the end of the day.

Jesus said that He did not come to be served but to serve. Let’s roll up our sleeves and serve this community in a way that blows them away!

Let’s do it Lifepoint. Let’s never get fat and lazy and expect others to wait on us. Let’s always be the first to arrive and the last to leave.

So let me ask a question, “why do you serve?” (seriously, I’d like to hear why you serve.  leave me a comment)

Because Jesus gave up His very life for me! How can I even think of doing anything else but serving others? I am a Christ-follower and a slave to all!

I serve for many reason Jeff and anyone can sit down and name everything under sun that they think you want to hear. I can only be honest and tell you the reason why I serve, I serve because I have this warm felling of being LOVED! when i am around everybody in church. I love the feeling of being accepted for who i am with no strings attached. I like the fact I can sing out loud, even though I cant hold a tune and no one laughs, I like the way the message is presented to me so I can understand it in today’s real world. I like the fact my kids get upset if we cant make church or are running late to get to church because they love it. I can go on and on so basicly I love GOD and the house i worship him in and giving back on the dream team is the cool whip on top for me!!

i serve because i love making people merry.

proverbs 17 says “a merry heart does good like medicine.” if i can take even just one person and do or say something that will spin them in the direction of being merry, i know that even the smallest thing can let them know how much God cares about them. and perhaps it might be the very thing i gave to them or said to them that will give them a little extra hope to get thru the day, or week or even month.

and even if the person is not going thru any particular rough circumstance, to serve them simply says YOU ARE VALUED- BY ME AND ESPECIALLY BY GOD.

I think serving Christ through others is a privilege…it is an overflow of a thankful heart. Wow, the Lord has done and continues to do so much for me. This is part of my worship to Him.

Because when ya make the extra effort, it’s worth the final result.
