Have you ever been around someone who had a permanent case of stink face? What about someone who has forgotten to tell their face to smile? Or maybe someone who always looks constipated?
Do you know anybody like that?
Abraham Lincoln once refused to hire a man because he didn’t like his face. When questioned about his decision he replied by saying that anyone over the age of 40 is responsible for how their face looks.
So how’s your face?
I’ve found that faces are like lights. They can either brighten or darken a room. I think we are all responsible for our demeanor. I know that my mood and creativity can tank simply because someone walks in the room with stink face.
I love the passage in Exodus that talks about Moses meeting God on Mount Sinai. The story says that when he came down the mountain that his face was literally beaming. Does your face beam after spending time with God? It should. I find it interesting that everyone knew that Moses had been with God simply because of his face.
Can people tell that you have been with God based on your face?
What if you were born with a stank face? Your post is very harsh. You shouldn’t need others to lift you up and you shouldn’t allow others to bring you down. Don’t be so mentally weak.
Just my opinion.
Yeah! I agree with Rock! I mean what if you had to walk around with a thick whisk broom stuck to your chin all the time? Don’t be so negative! Gosh! Not everybody has been blessed with an angelic face like mine, ya know?
hmm, i don’t think it’s a harsh post at all. didn’t jesus say to let your light shine before men? doesn’t the bible say that people could tell the disciples had been with jesus? it had to mean their countenance just as much as any other element of their examples… However, we DO need others to lift us up sometimes, because we are HUMAN. and sometimes others DO bring us down because of their attitude or the things they say. And besides, we are supposed to edify each other as a body of Christ- I’d say a good bit of that has to do with the demeanor we present in addition to our actions…which comes down to our attitude. And our attitude comes down to if people can tell we’ve been with God by the way we present our whole body. which i think is the whole point of the post- to challenge the way our attitude translates into our body language.
job 29:24 “…and the smile on my face renewed everyone’s hopes.”
prov. 15:30 “a cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.”
luke 11:36 “therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you.”
I sure hope that when people read my earlier comment to this post they can recognize that my tongue was firmly planted in my cheek. If not then let me make it more obvious…Not only do I agree with you Jeff, I try hard to apply this principle to my daily life! Even if my aging face is far less than angelic! LOL!
Also, I am happy to see that I’m not the only one who frequently leaps to defend our pastor! Go get ‘em Rebek!
I think rock bottom is nothing but a coward who is too afraid to use his real name.
Yeah and for some weird random reason it links to D’s blog. That’s strange…
Ahhhh! You caught that too? I just didn’t want to be too obvious…
Hey there Rock. So are you saying that if your a Christian and you walk around looking like you best pig just died or you have a big piece of poop on your upper lip that some non-believer will look at you and say I want what his got?
