Session 2: ME.

Daredevil: A Reckless Person who enjoys doing dangerous things.

  • As kids we lived by the motto: Act now think later..or never.
  • As we grow up our motto becomes: Think now act later…or never.
  • When we’re young we ask: Why Not?; why can’t we __________.
  • When we’re older we ask: Why? Why risk it?

Church Planting is a Daredevil sport.

  • The numbers say that between 68-80% of church plants fail within the first 4 years.
  • If the church planter provides leadership development training for new church members, the odds of survivability increase by over 250 percent.

1 Sam. 17:22-26.
Daredevils see what others can’t…and others will think they’re crazy.

  • Everyone else saw an obstacle but David saw an opportunity.
  • Everyone else saw the impossible and David saw the possible.
  • Everyone thought Goliath was too big to hit. David thought he was too big to miss.

Daredevils do what others won’t.
1 Sam. 17:32-37

  • An entire army was paralyzed while one lone shepherd boy was mobilized.

Because of their VISION and ACTION, Daredevils change the world. 1 Sam. 17:50-51

  • VISION–they see what others can’t.
  • ACTION–they do what others won’t.

Daredevils are nobodies in disguise.
1 Sam. 17:55-58

1 nobody with vision and action will change the world.

Quote from John Wesley –“give me a hundred men who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and such alone will shake the gates of hell and set up the kingdom of God on earth.”

I thought this was an awesome session!! So inspiring! I think its cool to look at things as opportunities, rather than obstacles, which is sometimes REALLY hard to do! I just love David :)

Pal, I really enjoyed Mac, but I can assure you that our pastor did far more than to fill in between sessions! What you had to say was inspiring and challenging. Great job using an old familiar story to make a fresh point! You is da bom!
