This past Thursday night at Newcomers I was reminded why we do what we do.  I had the privilege of listening in on several people’s stories.  There were two that really stood out to me.  Both of them received a mailer and both of them waited for months before actually coming to Lifepoint.  Both stories were moving but the one that really got me was told by a couple and it went like this:

(Him)  I was never interested in going to church.  I hated the way you had to dress up and sit all stiff and bored.  It didn’t do anything for me.

(Her)  When I got the mailer for Lifepoint I suggested we should try it out but somewhere in the process of moving I misplaced it.

(Him)  Since we lost the mailer we decided we would just pick a week and show up.  We showed up as the second service was wrapping up so we didn’t get to attend but Michelle (my amazing wife) gave us a copy of a dvd from the week before.  Something about the dvd made us want to come back.

(Her in tears)  I had been praying for years that my husband would come to church with me.  I had just about given up.

(Him)  What I saw was a church that was real.  People were in jeans, t-shirts, and tattoos.  I thought this was the kind of place I could relate to.

(Her)  Several days later, he came home in tears saying that something had changed in his life.  He had accepted Jesus as his savior!

(Him)  You didn’t have to tell everyone I was crying.

An Invitation + An Experience where someone can meet Jesus = A Changed life.

Stories like that are what it is ABOUT!
