So I’m a few days behind on my One Year Bible Reading but I’m not skipping any. I’m playing catch up. In my reading I have come across several passages that make me think, “God can’t do that!” I just read one today.
Read it for yourself:
1 In the year that the supreme commander, sent by Sargon king of Assyria, came to Ashdod and attacked and captured it- 2 at that time the LORD spoke through Isaiah son of Amoz. He said to him, “Take off the sackcloth from your body and the sandals from your feet.” And he did so, going around stripped and barefoot. Â 3 Then the LORD said, “Just as my servant Isaiah has gone stripped and barefoot for three years, as a sign and portent against Egypt and Cush,–Isaiah 20:1-3
Did you catch that? God instructed Isaiah to strip down to his birthday suit and walk around for 3 years. Talk about eliminating tan lines. BUTT NAKED!
I am amazed at the extent to which God goes to communicate a point. And to think that we worry about being offensive. yikes.
Bottom line:Â If God calls you to do something you do it…even when it doesn’t make sense and may be a bit offensive.
Please don’t come to chruch naked on Sunday…..although another week of high attendance would be guaranteed!
