I am still new at this planning ahead process but what I’ve found is that the payoff is worth the investment. I used to think that planning ahead took God out of the equation but what I’ve found is that it actually is giving Him first consideration. I’ve discovered that the Holy Spirit is just as capable to work in the preparation as He is in the presentation. So why do we do it and how do we do it?
Why? Because when you only have 52 opportunities a year to communicate the love, forgiveness, and truth of Jesus you had better make each one count. If our goal is to create an environment where someone wants to bring a disconnected friend than we had better take our weekend services seriously. If we don’t pray and plan the content that we wish to cover we may miss some very crucial topics. I have also found that if I do not plan ahead then I tend to say the same things over and over.
