Over the next bunch of days I want to share some of the thoughts that God has been stirring in my heart over the past several months.  The following concepts have shaped who we are and what we want to become.  One of the major catalyst of these concepts was the book unChristian.  I highly recommend reading this book it just might shatter your perceptions about church.

To understand where I’m coming from I have to tell you a few things about my community.

• Wilmington is a transient community.  You meet very few people who actually grew up here.
• Wilmington is a church saturated community.  We have over 300 churches in our city.
• The reason people aren’t going to church isn’t because they can’t find one.
• The church in Wilmington has an image problem.

In order for us to reach our city, I am convinced that it will happen by SHATTERING THE STEREOTYPE that people have regarding the church.

People were attracted to Jesus, but repelled by the church. Something has to change.

Tomorrow I want to share with you the first of ten concepts that we are putting in play at Lifepoint.
