I told everybody on Sunday that one of the things I would love to do in my lifetime is to write a book.  After this Sunday’s service I think I have a title, “I was dead, now I’m not!”  (Thanks for the inspiration Joe Sangl!)  I literally felt like I was on deaths door this weekend.  I went to bed on Saturday feeling a bit shaky and woozy (whatever woozy feels like).  To make a long story short, I got about an hours worth of sleep and woke up feeling like death.  I had the chills, a blaring headache, my eyes were sensitive to light, and I almost fell over when I stood up.  All I wanted to do was lay down and die.  One small problem, we don’t have a backup plan in the event something like this happens.  We debated on popping in a Craig Groeschel video, having Daryl preach my notes,  or I just man up and do it.  So I did.  I laid in the bed until 30 minutes before our service and then headed over to the school.  I have never felt so miserable.  I was actually laying on the floor backstage wrapped up in a blanket until it was time for me to speak.  Thanks to Daryl you can see what that looked like.

To make a long story short, I survived and we had our largest attendance ever (545).  People even told me the message was good (I think they lied to make me feel better)  What made this weekend so crazy was that 4 of our 6 staff members were sick and God still rocked the place.  Daryl rallied the troops and our teams step up to the plate big time.  Sometimes in ministry you have to play hurt.  When we are weak God is strong.  I got to see that yesterday.

On a side note, we did have a stray horse that showed up for church.  I’m sure that happens in Anderson, or Canton frequently but not in Wilmington.
