I just finished tucking our kids in bed, praying with them and singing songs. The playlist tonight was:
- Kenly-Baby Bumblebee song
- Emery–Twinkle, twinkle little star
- Riley–This little light of mine.
I’m on the couch now thinking about the newcomers gathering that we just had. We had a great bunch of people come out considering apparently there is a basketball game going on. Who knew???
Anyway, I love newcomers because it is a great reminder of why we do what we do. Nights like tonight draw a line in the sand and really let people know what we are about and that we are about reaching hurting people!
I was talking with a couple afterwards tonight and they began to tell me about their daughter. She had given up on God some time back and had absolutely no interest in him. This young lady has been through some tremendous trials in life. Her parents told me that they talked her into coming to Lifepoint on Easter. They said that after the service she sat in the car and broke down crying. She told them that the service was awesome and that Yes she would come back. Little did they know that the next day she would have to be on trial for a vehicular manslaughter charge from last year. Without any notice she was sentenced to jail for 6 months. Her dad looked at me and said with a smile that the last thing she got to experience was our Easter Service. He said that she is requesting some books and anything that she can get her hands on in jail to learn about God! What a story. He also told me how the rest of his kids have really started to look into Jesus and the church! PRAISE GOD!
I never get tired of hearing stories like this!
I also think it is so cool how people can remember their very first service at lifepoint…what we talked about that day and what the experienced. I am so proud to be apart of this team.
Thanks to all of our staff and dream that make this place happen. Thank you Jesus for giving us a mission worth giving our lives to!
