As you can tell, I’m not one to talk about monitoring gauges in life. Â This is an actual picture of my fuel gauge. Â Now you can see why people have issues riding with me. Â I have a bad habit of running my car way into the red. Â I am not a very structured person nor I am one to talk about discipline but there is one gauge in life that I am ultra intense about.
The one gauge I like to monitor is the passion gauge. Â I secretly read peoples gauges. Â I am constantly observing people, how they interact, and how passionate they are about their work. Â Most people have no idea that I am doing this. Â I do this all the time with my staff. Â I make mental notes of things like:
enthusiasm
participation
chatter about their area of ministry
goals that they set
wins that get celebrated
One of the early indicators that someone may not be a fit on a team or may not be in the right position is that their passion gauge begins to drop. Â Often times this drop is subtle at first but becomes more obvious with time. Â
So what about you? Â How full is your tank? Â How would you rank the passion of those serving on your team.

I always get into her car to see that horrible, bright screaming orange color looking up at me saying “Do you feel lucky today, PUNK? Well, Do ya” and I say a prayer and hope it makes it to the gas station.
