I just finished reading an incredible book about Steve Jobs. I am an apple enthusiast so I have a keen appreciation for Steve Jobs and his leadership that is redefining Apple Inc. This book covers the rise, fall, and resurrection of Apple. Â It is an inside look into the leadership dynamic that has allowed Apple to return as a pace setter in the technology industry. Here are a few things that stood out to me. (there is no way I could list everything that I highlighted)
- Face hard decisions head on.
- Get informed; don’t guess.
- Focus means saying “no.”
- Stay focused; don’t allow feature creep.
- Don’t listen to your customers. They don’t know what they want. (you really got to read this one.)
- Even though apple was only a few months old, the plastic case made it look like we had already achieved high-volume production.
- Design is function, not form.
- Don’t listen to “yes” men. Argue and debate.
- Find a passion for your work. It is infectious.
- Insist on things that are seemingly impossible.
- Burn the boats. Stand and fight.
- Don’t worry where the idea came from.
- Trust your process.
- Embrace the team.
