After 3 years of use I am officially decommissioning my New Balance 991 running shoes.  I spent some of my birthday money yesterday on a pair of Brooks.  I learned a few things while shoe shopping yesterday:

  1. Most shoe stores have no flippin’ clue about their shoes.
  2. Most shoe stores have no flippin’ clue about customer service.
  3. I had no idea how busted my New Balance were until I tried something new.
Principle #3 is true in more areas of life than just shoe shopping.  It is easy to get comfortable with what is and lose sight of what could be.  My old shoes have been dying a slow death and I had no idea.  I didn’t know what I was missing out on until I tried something different.
What areas of your life are comfortable or slowly deteriorating?
What about your marriage?
What about your family?
What about your dating?
What about your schedule?
It’s time to try something different.

BOOM! GREAT post pastor! Absolutley on time!!! Thanks! Something different indeed…….even if that something different doesn’t initially seem to be something you’d ordinarily like to do or be comfortable with (or in you case comfortable in).

Did you bury the 991’s?

I can not fathom running in the same shoes for 3 years…I’m certain your back and knees are dying a slow death…I was told if you run 15 miles a week on average, you should get them replaced every 6 months. I like the analogy though…..I liked the treadmill/outside running analogy as well. very true.
