quick update

We did something we have never done before this past Sunday.  I shared that as we were praying and planning for our move to Ashley we were kicking around ideas on how we should go about outfitting the new facility.  For the record, Ashley is a much larger facility than we are currently renting.  As we move there are many upgrades that we would like to make.  Such as:

  • lots more pipe and drape (the black curtain stuff) to create the environment.
  • More equipment in KidZone.
  • A Next Steps area for people who have prayed to receive Christ, want to get baptized, want to serve, or just take their next step at Lifepoint.
  • We want to give away nice Bibles to everyone who invites Christ into their life.
  • We are creating a First Time Guest area out front that will allow us to better serve our first timers.  We will get to meet them before the service and then after the service they will be able to stop by and pickup a FREE lifepoint t-shirt.
  • We are creating a Volunteer Headquarters area for all of our volunteers to check-in, meet as a team, and grab some snacks.
  • New Signage in and around the facility.
  • New Signage at Carolina Beach Road and River Road.
  • We want to send out 30,000 invitations to the community.
  • We want to give away gas to our community.
  • and much more…

Needless to say, it takes lots of resources to pull all of this off.  This excites me.  I remember when we were broke, had no money, and no people and God did the miraculous and got us to where we are today.  I’m counting on Him to do it again.

I shared with our volunteer team on Saturday and our church on Sunday that we are going to take up a special offering on September 7th to make this happen.  I have to admit, I was nervous.  It’s one thing to believe something.  It’s another to actually say it out loud.  I believe God can do infinitely more than all we can ask or imagine.  I believe we are going to sacrifice more than we ever have and we are going to celebrate more than we ever have over the next few months.

So here’s an update.

After speaking the words that God put in my heart on Saturday, I was told that we would be given $5,000 from a supporting church.  Then on Wednesday I had a phone conversation with an organization that we support and they said they would give $10,000.  Last night I had dinner with an old friend and at the end of the night he handed me a check for $1,000.  To say I am blown away is an understatement!  God has already raised $16,000 and we haven’t even taken up an offering yet!  I am humbled.

I write this because I believe God is getting ready to do something awesome through the people of Lifepoint.  All I ask is for you guys to get alone with God and ask Him what He would have you to give and then do it.  Let’s trust Him and see what He does.

I also write this because I’ve got lots of church planter friends that may have equipment (ie pipe and drape) that they no longer use and may be interested in getting rid of.  Shoot me an email and we can talk.

I guess my “quick update” got a little long…oh well.A Sound of Thunder movie download

Hey just wanted to say that I’ve only been to your church once (this past Sunday) cuz I’m a freshman at the Dub. But I’m excited about what your church is doing. And looking at the plans you have listed, they look familiar. I’m from Elevation in Charlotte and your church already feels like home. I can’t wait to help out and see this become a reality for the glory of the Kingdom!
