As a staff we are on day 5 of our 21 day Daniel fast. So far so good. While the Daniel fast is not an absolute fast meaning that you are not elimating food from your diet it still requires some serious dietary modifications. For instance, instead of a burger an fries you may eat some beans and rice…instead of a peperonni pizza you may eat some more beans and rice…instead of a roast beef sandwich you might try some beans and rice. You get the idea?
Truth be told you can eat more than beans and rice but the menu is scaled back greatly. I can’t say I’ve been enjoying the eating but I have enjoyed being on this journey with my wife and staff. As a staff we have been spending the first part of the day praying together, worshiping together, and reading God’s Word together. It has been a great way to kick things off.
Some have asked me about coffee??? The answer is no I can not have coffee. My esspreso machine in my office gets a nice vacation. You can not have caffeine while on the Daniel fast. I thought i would be okay but I haven’t been. Two days ago I hit a wall. My head was throbbing and my eyes could hardly focus. I went to bed at 7:30pm and woke up at 6:30am. I guess you could say I went through detox because when I woke up I felt like a brand new person!
16 Days to go. I’m excited about what God has in store for me, my family, and Lifepoint Church! It’s gonna be great!
