People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, 8 but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison. 9 Frankenstein Created Woman movie The Banger Sisters divx
Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. 10 And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!

A bit. A rudder. A tiny spark. All of these are small things that make a big impact. Our tongues are just the same.
James has a way of smacking you in the face with Truth. This chapter is one that I have been thinking about for a few weeks now. It is easy for me to get together with people and talk about others in a negative manner. I’ve found people that talk about others are often times insecure about themselves and do it so they can make themselvs look good. I don’t think God likes this. This isn’t right!
James says we can can use our words to either build people up or tear people down. The choice is ours. However, it is clear that both shouldn’t be happening. I’ve got some friends that are always encouraging others and constantly building people up. There is something magnetic about being around them. I hope that my words will become like theirs. Negativity is destructive. I don’t want any part of it.
How’s your tongue?

I am LOVING reading James! It’s hard to just stop at one Chapter! You said it perfectly! It does sort of ’smack you in the face’!
Have a great page! Liking the new look of the page!
wow! good words, jeff! encouraging and convicting all at the same time. i was drawn to the verse “but the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy, and good fruits without partiality, without hypocrisy.” we really all need to pray for God’s wisdom.
i like this post alot. i needed to read this. i also like the new blog layout…but i’m still partial to having some kind of picture of you at the top… =) missing you guys terribly this week!
This book of James is very simplistic and practical. Everyone should read it, even if it’s just to remind us how to conduct our lives humbly before our God.

Tie 3:1 and 3:8 together and wow – If we who profess Christ are by default teachers? I think so.
