Back in the Saddle

Today we kicked off a new teaching series at Lifepoint and I got to be back in the saddle again.  Taking 3 weeks off was extremely refreshing and challenging.  You learn alot about yourself when you take some time off.  Today was the beginning of a mini-series called “IN.”  Little title…big impact.  Here is the rundown from today.

  • To say that I was excited to speak today is an understatement.
  • I was excited and nervous all at the same time.
  • Our sound was amazing today.
  • Patrick (who now twitters but does not blog) led worship today and did a great job.
  • The band played a newer John Mark McMillan song called “dress us up.”  The verses are very artsy but the chorus is slamming.–”The love of God is stronger…than the power of death.”  What if we really believed that?
  • Our creative team worked up a new set design.  I am digging it.
  • Today’s message was one of those that will either cause people to get IN the game and serve or leave the church and free up seats for hurting people.  I’m fine either way.
  • I felt that today’s topic is a huge passion of mine.  I remember 4 years ago when we stood on the school property and prayed over the city.  We wondered if anyone would want to be IN on this crazy vision.  I am still humbled that people show up.
  • We want people to be: IN Christ, IN Church, and INvolved.
  • I’m tired of people dating the church!
  • I am fired up at our dreamteam that blows me away every Sunday with their enthusiasm.
  • I’m looking forward to our DreamTeam experience on Saturday July 18th.  Every dreamteam member is invited and expected to attend.  You don’t want to miss it!
  • Next Sunday afternoon is our beach party and baptism.  Email info@lifepointnow.com to sign up.
  • I was excited to hear that the former Senator, John Edwards came to Lifepoint today.  No, I’m not making that up.
  • I found out today that a young man that met Jesus at Lifepoint has since moved to the Outer Banks and recently started a church.  Wow!
  • I love pouring into church planters.  I’ll never forget the pastors that have poured into me.  If you are a church planter and ever want to talk or ask questions, please contact my assistant and she will connect us together.
  • My voice is getting raspy.  Taking 3 weeks off messed me up.
  • My family got a wii fit today and I found out I am overweight (surprise) and that my wii fit age is 35.
  • We must be all IN for the sake of those who are not yet IN!
  • Our teams don’t park cars, brew coffee, and watch kids…we are opening doors for people to come IN and meet Jesus!

Can’t tell you how good it was to hear my pastor get it cranked up, rare back and let the preachin’ fly! I am so glad and excioted to be IN Christ along side the people of Lifepoint, to be IN Church (not a building, not In attendance, not an organization) with a shared fellowship and a purpose of making our Lord Jesus known and loving God, loving others and serving the world from within the Body (I don’t want to be an appendix), and to be INvolved along with a family of Christ-followers doing the work of holding the door open for those whom Christ is calling to enter IN. To all of this I say AyyyymIN!
