This picture is from one of our first two meetings when we were getting ready to start Lifepoint Church. We called it “Lifepoint Cafe” because we were afraid if we called it “church” people would think this is all we would ever be.
Its funny looking back because Lifepoint looks nothing like that today. When I think about then and now the reality is that not much has changed…but everything has changed.
- We had a huge vision for people then. We have a huge vision for people now.
- I had style then. I have style now.
- We had no money then. We have very little money now.
- We had tons of dreams then. We have tons of dreams now.
- God was faithful then. God is faithful now.
- It was all about Jesus then. It is all about Jesus now.
If you are a church planter I cannot encourage you enough…do not despise small beginnings. Three years from now everything will have changed and nothing will have changed.
Great stuff man, we started with four small deals like that then we launched with just 67 people… still no where near where I want to be after 3 years, in 3 more I know God can do even more amazing things! Everything will change. Nothing will change!
When I see it, I think of alot of things, one being, why did I let that guitar go…it was so beautiful!
