My five year old prayed the other night before bed. He doesn’t usually pray at bedtime…I do. He usually prays before meals. However, the other night as I was tucking the boys in to bed he said, “I want to pray tonight!” His prayer went something like this:
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for our food and its a good day. (like I said, he usually prays for food)
Help the kids in Brazil to have good food.
Help the other kids to have warm coats.
Help Leslie to get better.
Amen.
To any ordinary reader that may seem like a typical prayer but it’s not, it packs some powerful punch! My son prayed for kids in Brazil and kids who need coats (kids in West Virginia) because our family chose to give toward our churches Angel Tree this Christmas. We are making a decision to spend less and give more this Christmas. Michelle and I want our kids to know and embrace the true meaning of Christmas.
I’m proud of my kids and eagerly look forward to the way God uses them to flip the world upside down!
How has your family chosen to celebrate Jesus this Christmas?
He is so precious!!! I LOVE hearing Dylan & Autumn pray!!!
Nothing is more honest than the prayers of children.
so sweet!!!
we started “jesse tree” with out kids last year and really loved having that devotion time each night as a family.
