We continued our Memas series today by talking about what could happen if we chose to “spend less” this year. The following are my thoughts from today’s experiences.
- I ran a Marathon yesterday…more on this later.
- Due to the fact that yesterday was my marathon we made the decision to film the first ten minutes of my message earlier in the week.
- We kicked the service off with the most amazing version of “Carol of the Bells” by August Burns Red. It was Metal meets Christmas! Amazing!
- We have been challenging people to “Worship Fully, Spend Less, Give More, and Love All” this Christmas season.
- We are partnering with Living Water International to dig some wells this Christmas season.
- I am still blown away by the fact that approximately 1 Billion (1,000,000,000) people do not have access to clean drinking water.
- Check out water.cc for more information about Living Water.
- I had a friend of mine, Matt Spivey join me on stage today to talk about his trip this past summer to Uganda. The story he told about the 5 year old kid trying to carry the 40 pound jerry can of water is ridiculous.
- I also interviewed Chris Winters, a regional rep from Living Water International to talk about the organization and the impact they are making in the world.
- LWI has been around for 20 years. They’ve completely over 7,000 water projects impacting 8 million lives.
- It takes approximately $1 to provide clean water for one person for one year.
- We had an awesome water display set up in the lobby today. It was cool to see people asking questions and feeling the weight of the 40 pound jerry cans.
- A huge thanks to Jan Carmack for making a very real looking water pump.
- It’s safe to say that God is wrecking some hearts at Lifepoint over this water crisis.
- The reason I chose to go with Living Water International is because they are bold about presenting the Gospel. There are lots of organizations drilling wells but only a few doing it in Jesus’ name.
- We are asking our church to sacrifice big time and give during our Christmas Eve Celebrations. If you are not going to be at our Christmas eve celebrations you can give online here.
- I have been blown away by the families that are giving up gift exchanges to give water this Christmas.
- I am also very humbled by the amount of students that are talking about raising money amngst their friends.
- The following letter was turned in at church today:

- (this is not my son Riley)
- My Legs are hating me right about now!
- No Midtown campus tonight gave me the opportunity to just veg out and watch movies. I watched Karate Kid with my boys and I’m getting ready to watch Rad some friends.
- I’m so proud of Lifepoint and I am excited about what God is doing in our church!
- Next we we are going to share one remarkable story with our church. I can’t wait!
