Its safe to say that this weekend was unlike any other weekend we have ever experienced at Lifepoint Church before. I’ll even go so far as to say that this weekend was the worst celebration experience we have ever had. Why was it so bad? Our volunteers didn’t show up! That’s right, this weekend was what we are calling “No Show Sunday.” Our volunteers didn’t revolt, we actually gave them the weekend off. Here is my attempt to recap the under-whelming experience that took place this weekend.
- We stripped the Lifepoint experience of every volunteer role which meant things looked quite different.
- We replaced our normal banner with a hand made banner that read, “Lifepoint Church is meeting today.”
- There were no dreamteam members in the parking lot today. We also saw that our people really can’t park by themselves.
- No Greeters—Our lobby was eerily quite and awkward.
- No music playing throughout the campus.
- No First Time Guest area.
- No Next Steps area.
- No Ushers
- No Pipe and Drape
- No blacking out the Skylight
- No lights
- No projectors
- All scripture and lyrics were printed on a plain white sheet of paper.
- No band-Just Drew and his guitar
- By far the biggest change was that we didn’t have volunteers to help us put out chairs so we sat people at the cafeteria tables.
- One area that did not receive the day off was our kidzone department. We didn’t feel that kids would understand what we were trying to communicate.
- So what were we trying to communicate? Our goal was twofold: First, we wanted to honor our dreamteam by showing everyone what this place would be like without them. Our second reason was to invite the rest of the church to step into their potential through serving others.
- Yesterday was a challenge for our team to ignore their normal serving roles.
- I had no idea how uncomfortable I would feel throughout the entire day.
- I have always loved our dreamteam but after yesterday there is no question that they make Lifepoint what it is.
While this past weekend was one for the books, the following weekends are going to be incredible.
This coming Sunday we have a special guests band Exodus from Liberty University. These guys rock and you don’t want to miss out!
Feb. 7th we are celebrating our 4 year Birthday with one massive celebration at Kenan Auditorium. We officially gave away all 1,000 tickets this weekend! If you didn’t get tickets, stay tuned for more instructions on how to get in this celebration.
That’s all for now! Have a great week.
