So here’s another baseball analogy for everybody.
Don’t wait til the plate to coach your kid.
I was at my kids game the other day and i noticed how easy it was to spot the parents that have worked with their kids and the parents that have not. You could tell by the way they were speaking to them.
The parents that had worked with their kids said things like, “wait for a good pitch!…take one for a ride!…crush it buddy!”
The parents that had not worked with their kids said things like, “keep your eye on the ball, keep your bat back, line up your knuckles, head in, don’t step out, step toward the pitcher, keep your elbow up….”
The parents that had coached their kids, focused more on encouragement in the heat of the moment. Those who had neglected coaching their kids focused on instruction.
In life it is real easy to wait til the plate when it comes to raising our kids. It is easy to pass on opportunities to develop our kids throughout the week and therefore try to tell them everything they need to know at the last minute.
There is no crash course on parenting.
You can’t cram the night before they leave the house.
Better start coaching them now!
Nicely said, sir! Nicely said, indeed!
No better way to say it than that! I am going to log this one into MY memory bank
Pastor Jeff,
You lined up your knuckles, nailed your back foot down, kept your eye on the CENTER of the ball, waited for it, and took a nice level swing in this comment & once again – knocked it out of the park for a Grand Slam message for parents.
