Have you ever been so fixated on what you want that you have become blinded to what you have?
In life there is always the next thing… The next raise. The next house. The next car. The next…
Two weeks ago I shared a thought that I learned from Andy Stanly that says, “appetites are never fully and finally satisfied.” I can attest to that statement!
In Numbers 11, Moses is getting sick and tired of the Israelites complaining about what they want! As a matter of fact, they are so blinded to what they have that they actually begin talking about how much better they had it back in Egypt!
Seriously!
Have they forgotten that in Egypt they were SLAVES! They were beaten! They had no rights! They were oppressed!
Now, they were on their way to freedom. They were about to be established as a nation! Their children wouldn’t have to know the pain of slavery as they did! And yet they want to go back!!! Why? Because they were hungry for meat, fish, and cucumbers!
Its ridiculous! But, how often can I become guilty of the same thing. Rather than appreciating where God is bringing me and what I do have, I get so focused on what I don’t have!
If you find yourself in this place it calls for one response. Repent! Repent for being so self absorbed that you have forgotten that He is God and you are not! Repent for taking His blessings for granted. Repent for desiring the blessing more than the Blesser!
Start today by thanking God for where He has brought you from. Thank Him for what He has done and what He promises He will do!
