Don’t get robbed

John 10:10 – The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Question: Who is the “thief?” How can you defeat this enemy?

Application: Remember that the thief wants to steal from you, rob you of the ultimate joy in Christ. He wants you to think less of yourself, that you aren’t worthy of God, that you are too unclean for Jesus to see you as you are. Jesus knows who you were created to be, He knows what you are capable of. There is nothing that you can hide from Him. Seek Him, go home to His safe refuge and let Him wash you clean and love you all the while.

Will you let God clean you up and then follow Him? In what ways will you do that this week? How will you come to Him?

How do you view God?

1 John 3:1 – How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. (NIV)

Question: How do you view God? What is that first thing that comes to mind? How does that hold up as a reflection of God living in you?

Application: How you view God is often a reflection of how we view ourselves. Change your view of God and you will change your view of yourself.

Dinner, Disreputable Sinners and Scum

Matthew 9:10-13 – ¹⁰ Later, Matthew invited Jesus and his disciples to his home as dinner guests, along with many tax collectors and other disreputable sinners. ¹¹ But when the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with such scum?^[a]”¹² When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do.” ¹³ Then he added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’^[b] For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”

Question: Have you learned what it means when Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.”?

Application: If you know Jesus as your Savior, how are you bringing the sick to Him? Are you being a disciple for Christ?

Powerful for the Powerless

Romans 5:6-11 – You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Question: Have you received Christ as your Savior, recognizing His blood shed for your sins?

Application: How will you share that healing, cleansing love with others?
